Township Emergency Medical Services

The Township emergency medical services are divided between three area emergency medical service agencies.   The township has established service contracts with the City of Stoughton EMS, Deer- Grove EMS and the Village of McFarland EMS to provide these services.   Link to EMS Service Area Map >>

Each of these agencies is staffed with  full-time, part-time and volunteer  with a minimum of state and nationally certified emergency medical technician level qualifications; Deer Grove EMS  provides advance life support/ paramedic level certified care.

The Dane County 9-1-1 center will dispatch the nearest and most readily available EMS to your emergency.

What to do in a medical emergency

The very first thing that one should do is to call 9-1-1

The 9-1-1 emergency dispatcher will ask you for information on the nature of the emergency and can provide you with guidance and basic first aid assistance while they dispatch the nearest emergency medical service to your location.

To local business’s and chamber of commerce members:

Deer-Grove EMS is proud to serve our communities 24/7/365 in many capacities. Along with responding to over 900 emergency calls annually, we also provide many non-emergency community services. Several examples being presentations at assisted living facilities and elementary schools, station tours, and local boy scout first aid. New this year our “MY MEDIC” program which is aimed at getting file of life cards in all homes in our communities. We also provide health screenings and vital sign evaluations to citizens when needed.

This letter is to address our most influential and life saving program which is community CPR awareness. All of the local business’s in Deerfield, Pleasant Springs and Cottage Grove need to be prepared in the event of a medical emergency, specifically cardiac arrest. Weather your workforce is small or large, everyone can benefit from CPR/AED and first aid training. Many paramedics and EMT’s at Deer-Grove are American Heart Association certified CPR Instructors and want to help educate and create emergency medical plans at local business’s to give patients the best possible outcome when cardiac arrest occurs.

Deer-Grove offers several courses to suit the needs of your business or company, from CPR re-certification, Heart-Saver, basic first aid to CPR/AED for the health care provider. Our instructors are available to teach at your facilities or at either of our stations located in Deerfield or Cottage Grove. This service is already provided to some local businesses and companies however, reaching all in our communities is the goal.

In the event of cardiac arrest “time is muscle” and every minute counts. Every minute adequate CPR is withheld, survival rates drop drastically. Being properly trained and prepared is the most effective and practical way to save someone’s life.

For information or to schedule CPR training please email training@deergroveems.org or call 608-839-5658.

Sincerely,

Deer-Grove EMS Staff
